4 Hurt in a Crash with a Taxi and Food Cart

Police say that at least four people were injured in a horrific crash in Manhattan that involved a taxicab, a Con Edison van, a food cart and several pedestrians.

The chain-reaction crash started at Broadway and 62nd Streets when a black Honda SUV struck a taxicab and sent the cab over the curb onto the sidewalk where it smashed into a halal food cart, which then crashed into a utility truck.  Several pedestrians were hit by the vehicles as they were forced onto the sidewalk and into their path.

The crash led to a scene of chaos, with pedestrians down and bleeding and the food cart on its side and smashed into the utility van.

Witnesses were shocked to see the Honda driver speed off and leave the wreckage behind.

The taxi driver, Michael Parvez, 59, said he has been driving a cab for eight years and has never had an accident.  He stated that he had just picked up two passengers and the Honda sedan ran into him intentionally from behind as he drove down Broadway with his passengers.

“Then some guy came around and he hit me, so I hit the brakes, and then he hit again, hard,” Parvez said.  “And I could not control my car.  I lost control ‘cause he hit hard.”

Parvez said he regained consciousness behind the wheel with the airbag deployed in his car.  The two passengers that were inside the cab were not hurt.

One witness said the food cart worker escaped serious injury, but a woman who was pushing a child in a wheelchair was critically injured with a nearly severed arm.  Two nurses happened to be nearby and rushed to the woman’s aid.

“It was a bloody scene,” said witness Jose Rodriguez.

The driver of the Honda that crashed into the taxicab fled the scene, according to police.  The Honda had been reported stolen earlier in the day and police were searching for the driver.

Sweden shut uber down. TLC looks dumber and dumber with every passing day. Clueless, and duped – they confused criminal illegal operations with innovation. The two are not the same.

    The car wasn’t stollen!
The insurance would declare it stollen when the driver is not uncluded in the insurance policy.would anybody drive into manhattan with a stollen car !that’s funny .I suggest all cars must be turned on with a pass word and ignition key .they always blame taxi drivers with a careless driving because taxi drivers dont drink and drive.

Who seems to drive BLACK Hondas and Toyotas the most? Also Is it confirmed that the car had PA plates?. PA only requires a rear plate, and I doubt anyone took notice of it during the mayhem.

Agreed, Train. It’s also heavily padded, wondering how the passenger hurt himself. The tv screen, perhaps?…..
