Things to do for a change in 2019 (Driver’s Forum for Discussion)

Posted by RadioFreeTaxi on January 10, 2019

Every working cab driver should get involved to use this website to share;

Here is one to start the discussion;  It’s time to get rid of the taxi TV from yellow and green cabs, and these TV should be installed with the partition in every UBER car!

    Since UBER, and God know how many other type of taxis are hurting the yellow cab business. Riderships are continuously declining due to the traffic problems! Who wants to pay 15-20 dollars for sitting in heavy traffic jam?
    Could any of you add comments or questions to my or any other writings? We must work collectively to find the best solutions to the existing problems. Taxi cab industry works better with happy and well paid cabdrivers! Every cabdriver should have a good income, and all should be pleased! Unfortunately cabdrivers wages slashed much as 50% just in few years! Top of that cabbies are the ones getting bogus tickets year around, just to make their life much harder! Cab driving is thankless job, and no one cares about them, except those good hearted passengers! Even with the good tips drivers are struggling, because this city are so expensive!

    Imagine all UBERS with taxi-TV and partition – Perhaps the TLC will make it happen.

    $5.80 to start the meter?, WOW! Let me get out, there is a garbage-truck ahead of us anyway, and I left my wallet in the office! …

    Unbelievable, NYC cabdrivers are still work under the minimum wages ($7-$13) and with no additional benefits in the richest city in america! Something seriously wrong in the taxi industry!

    Taxi cab drivers in Barcelona fought hard over there and the Catalonian government listened and stood beside its drivers and as a consequence, Uber and some other company withdraw from working in Barcelona. Good for them!!!!

    We are paying to much to the MTA. $2.50 FOR EACH TRIP BELOW 96TH STREET plus 0.50 cents from 2009 and still going on plus $4.77 leese tax that pay all of us who work in a garage that is going for the MTA. They are taking advantage of us and We remain quiet. It is more than 6 years that We did not get an increase. It was September 03 2012/ Obama was in his first term in office, Bloomberg was still mayor and this monster of governor We have in place, was governor already.

    NYPD are all over waiting that most of us make a minimum infraction to give us as many tickets as possible. Look around 66th street in the West side Amsterdam and West End Av. 58, 60, 61 and 63 streets and third av. 14th street and 7th Av. 26th street ald 6th Av. Those places I saw it. Also in the FDR below the Brooklyn bridge up to the Battery Tunnel speed limit is 30 MPH. They are waiting over there and do not forget the UN Tunnel in First Av. NYC looks like a police state. Just be careful because they are not cops, they are blood suckers.

    Minimum wage in NYC and NY State is $15.00 an hour. This past Tuesday working for a garage and after paying my lease, gas and all what they f-cking want from us I took home $117.00. Divide that number by 10 hours I am behind the wheel and You see I did not even made my City and State minimum wage.

    With this extra $2.50 more for the MTA, a lot of people will not take cabs, short trips. I suggest if You pick up passengers in the 90’s and they are going north I suggest do not put the meter until You cross 96th street so the $2.50 will not appear as a sign of protest. The same if You pick up a passenger from north of 96th street and is going somewhere near by, put off down the meter at 96th street as a sign of protest and inform the passenger . If You pick up somebody going to JFK near 96th street and go through the Triboro bridge do not put the meter until You cross 96th street.

    Yesterday I took the MTA bus in Astoria and I ask the driver; He said the starting wages for bus drivers are 26.00 and goes up to 34 max per hour, the new bus driver has $26/hour, in 10 hours that is $ 260 plus benefits!!! NYC cabdrivers are lucky if they get $13/hours!
